Isa BAL

Isa has been working with wine since 1999, mainly focusing on the restaurant business. Starting his wine career as a commis sommelier at the Vineyard At Stockcross near Newburry in the UK. He has also competed and judged in several competitions, notably winning the Best Sommelier Of Europe title in 2008. Having passed his Master Sommelier exams in 2009 Isa has become the first and only person from Turkey to have achieved this title and has been the member of the Board of The Court of Master Sommeliers for several years.

Isa worked as Head Sommelier at 3 Michelin Starred The Fat Duck restaurant for 13 years and has always worked closely with the kitchen team in harmonising the wine offering at At The Fat Duck.

Isa runs his own consultancy company helping restaurants, bars, hotels and distributors and wineries in various different ways. He also provides to private and corporate clients range of services ranging from cellar building and wine education which can be tailored to the specific needs.
